I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Oregon and Washington, I see clients both in-person and online using a confidential platform. Prior to starting a counseling practice, I worked in out-patient oncology for six years providing individual counseling and emotional support, as well as palliative care services, to people with cancer and their family members/caregivers. This remains an area of focus and passion for me. I also provided emotional support for clinical staff and physicians. My experience also includes years of facilitating support groups and retreats for people impacted by illness (including caregivers). I have experience supporting people through life transitions, supporting effective communication and boundary setting, and supporting people struggling with moderate anxiety and depression symptoms.
My Approach
I approach each client relationship with curiosity and honesty. My approach to therapy is informed by Narrative Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness, and consideration of a client’s individual strengths and their experiences - their environments, identities, relationships, etc., and the ways these interact with the larger system narratives. I am currently learning more about Parts Therapy and IFS (Internal Family Systems), with the intention of applying these models to my therapeutic approach with clients.
Grief and loss is also a common lens through which I work with folks, particularly for people affected by life altering illness and with folks who are grieving a death or other loss. Grief is something we carry, not something we “get over,” and sometimes we need support exploring ways to carry it and move with it so it can eventually feel lighter.
Please note that I pursue continued education for my licensure and my own growth as a therapist, so additional therapeutic models and approaches will be added to this list over time. Don’t hesitate to ask me more about my approach and education.
I aim to create a counseling environment that is person-centered and supportive to people of all races, genders, abilities, ages, and sexual identities. I aim to practice from an anti-oppressive and anti-racist framework.
I aim to support:
Being heard: Therapy is a confidential environment where you can share your story, your concerns, your hopes
Building awareness: Our relationship to self is powerful, as is our relationship to community. Honest self-awareness can support community connection and community awareness.
Moving Forward: This looks different and feels different for everyone. It can be tangible outcomes or increased capacity to sit with what is, or something entirely different.
